Honolulu hair salon owner gets into lemon tea business

The owners of the popular hair salon catering to fashion-forward clients in Honolulu, Salon Blanc, are getting into the tea business with their first venture as a kiosk in Pearlridge Center in Central Oahu with plans to open a second cafe inside the salon.

Alan 'V' - for Vuong - and his wife, Michelle 'V,' told PBN that their LemonTea concept is nothing like the Bubble Tea or Milk Tea craze that's currently hitting Honolulu.

Instead, their concept specializes in making lemonades and tea based on drinks inspired by their childhood memories, including a white Gummy Bear lemonade, the pink Starburst lemonade, the Sour Patch Kids lemonade and 'Skyler's Special,' which is their son's favorite lemonade.

'Lemon tea has a lot of benefits,' Alan said. 'It [may help] to cure diseases.'

The LemonTea kiosk, which is located in Pearlridge Uptown near Goma Tei, employs seven people.

Alan, 32, who has owned his salon on the ground floor of the Hokua condominium for about seven years, plans to eventually open a LemonTea cafe inside the salon.

Ironically, his landlord at Hokua - the Kobayashi Group - is the same landlord for his new kiosk at Pearlridge.

Salon Blanc, known by some as the 'Celebrity Salon,' which occupies about 1,500-square-feet at Hokua, has nearly 20 employees.
