Art was an Openlands TreeKeeper in Illinois. He took some classes and was certified to help care for trees in Chicago. He has always loved trees. We had an apple, sour cherry, oak, locust, ash, Japanese blood maple and a horse chestnut tree surrounding our house. We both miss having cool, tall trees on our Hawaii property, but we just don't have the space. We have to make do with our little lemon and papaya trees. While we were visiting in Illinois this past May our huge, old horse chestnut tree fell down when a strong spring wind came through. We planted a weeping cherry tree that we bought from Home Depot.
We were thrilled to see this photo that our daughter, Tiffany e-mailed us. The tree looks like it's very happy with branches spreading out like wings.
The ash tree is now wearing its glorious fall colors. We were really surprised to see how big that tree had grown as well. We planted it when it was only about 4 feet tall and now it's reaching to the sky. We're thrilled that little KC is loving it, too.

I do love seeing these fall photos. We miss seeing the change of seasons here in Hawaii. Granted, I really do love it here in January.
And yes, those are REAL pumpkins at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
